Official Runescape Gambling / New Skills

Would first like to put a thanks to 'Glono' for this picture. Just stating that. :P

This was recently posted on the RSOF, and I don't know how I feel about it.

I personally would like to see ALL gambling out, but at least with there won't be a 'host' who stands around getting money for just holding other peoples.

What do you guys think?



Also, they're hoping the new skills will be out before Summer. So it might be a while before they're even released unlike what we previously thought.

Thank God.

I don't mind this new gambling if it's 100% legit and only have ingame coins and it would be cool if it had a set amount of times u can do it in a day, where you won't just go make 3B in a day then get cleaned next day but it got like a 10m limit or something

So i WAS right. It will be one skill at a time. Some dumbass at GE 104 kept saying gf to my comp cape because id lose for a while due to 2skills at one time. I can do a buyable in like a week tops lol. Ill be able to focus in on 1 skill quite swiftly =)

as for gambling, Ive never felt that gambling was a good function in Runescape. Its been noted many times that the intended market for this game was people 13+. That being said, why would they purposefully add something that would instill gambling habits in teenagers who are already characterized to have a greater chance of getting new addictions. I say they remove the things that are being used to gamble.
 Ie, Make easter egg 1 color instead of many,
Make flowers different  colors when picked but maybe only red when planted for others to see
Remove numbers from the backpack on the seal emote.

I dont see why we should put a physical gambling area in game. If people wish to get a thrill of a gamble they can take their gp and go pking or something like that. Idk thats just my personal opinion.

Runescape is dying. We see many people leaving, due to updates, e.g. the evolution of combat. As we look at the bots, they're a huge pile of money for Jagex, that's why they aren'ty really dissapearing. The only people who play, are 'veteran' players, who play for a long time, but as soon as they all slowly quit due to having life, there won't be coming much new people. There are more people quitting then joining, if you don't count the bots or another account someone made.

As for the gamblers, as soon as they remove it, people will stop. Some only play it to have lots of cash, and 'be cool', while not using it. So some people only play to gamble. As soon as they remove it, they will leave too, another huge quitting amount will come. New players won't be coming back fast.

So that's why they don't kill gambling, but make it more 'legit'.

As for that 10m limit, like Runar said, they won't do that. Why not? Because 10m is different for everyone. For one it's like another 10m to add with their 1000 other 10m stacks, for the other, it's a reason to play again. So people will leave if they put limit who aren't their standards. What they could do is, add a sort of calculator for your total bank wealth. So every item + gp's added, and then they can set the limit to like 25% of your wealth, or maybe just the gps. This is a debateable item for Jagex.

To be fair, they could add in a gamble limit based on cb level?
It's not hard to get 200 cb now adays, and most of the big gamblers are 200 cb, maxed, got nothing to do so they just try to make cash for items.

*get 200m skills
*learn how to legitly make gp through skilling
*aid on sites that produce information for other player(ie. zybez, runezone)
*start a clan
*run a clan
*flip at ge
*alch random junk
*logout
*leave your computer in your bedroom and move across the country

Speculation on this update being for Gamblers.

Nothing is really said about it, but looking at the image and it being a 'Sinkhole', I really think this could be it.

I think Jagex's "casino" will be pretty futile in terms of stopping street gambling. Street hosts will most likely offer more adventegous games (e.g. flower poker, where the host and the bettor play on equal odds). Jagex's casino will be a money sink, probably with similar odds to hot/cold, where the host has a 5-10% favour. If you have a 45% chance of winning, it means that every time you play, you will statistically lose 5% of your bet.
