New Skill Announced: Inventor

Not too much has been said about it, so i'll just take what's on the Wikia atm:

Inventor will be the 27th skill, and is set to be released in 2014. The name was announced at RuneFest 3.
With this skill you will be able to upgrade weapons and later, skilling tools. New weaponry such as the Soul weapons and lighting weapons are affiliated with the skill.



Thoughts about this? Here's also pictures of the 2H weps / Soul eater weapon.

Surely it should be called Inventing, seeing as it is a skill not a person :P

Seems kinda meh, imo. so far it looks pretty much like smithing

I didn't watch the stream, but here's how my friend summarized it to me:
  • you will experiment and manipulate energy
  • you earn "inspiration" and spend that to create things
  • will have large workshops with a social aspect
  • everyone will be experimenting together
  • will be a slow skill
  • will have some buyable elements
  • levelling up items will come into play starting with weapons, then going to tools and summoning familiars
  • some weapons may even be voiced
  • experimenting and creating unique equipment is the main focus of this skill
  • it will have examine options that will say "made by RSN"
  • you can then sell them and have your stamp on the game

Any more details about the skill?

sounds like grasping at straws when they were talking about it, also sounds like itll be combat based and or high price based due to 'as you carry them around theyll begin to work better together' and or the pictures shown, respectively

Sounds interesting :D

I take it that 'manipulate energy' is referring to energy acquired through Divination, and higher level energy will be required to make the best weapons and tools

Hopefully it's not 100% repetitive like Divination.

Reminds me of a feature in another game, can't remember which, but enchanting rings a bell.

It sounds good, as it can boost the experience of combat, but combat is awful in eoc anyway.

Could be Elder Scrolls. They have something similar to this where you can make a unique weapon.

This is the standard response of the majority of the player base for basically every update, minus,

It's not like it's a small task to create a new skill this late into the game, considering basically everything realistic has been done already, (by realistic I mean realistic in terms of Runescape, I don't think Summoning is particularly realistic, for example.)

As for the actual skill, the name seems quite odd to me, when compared to the information about it that's actually out there, but I suppose there's always time to change the name if required, and if not, it's not like it's hugely important.

If I'm honest, I would have been happier without Divination or this as new skills, as I just don't think they were needed, but now they're here (Div anyway) I'm not going to complain about it.

I can't help that feeling rushing into a new skill because people are so impatient and just want new content is a bad idea.
These people also seem to be the ones eager to complain about everything new at the first opportunity too, but oh well.

(Or even complain about things that aren't even released yet. Lol.)



I wonder if this skill will be F2P, if not meh, I'm OK with that, I have more then enough to do atm as it is without an extra skill to grind.




Oh and another slow skill is always good!





I feel like this was borderline incoherent but oh well you'll live with it~
