If RuneScape were to die out completely
« on: October 01, 2013, 05:35:36 »
As People become more busy with their lives, people get older, interest change and more bad ideas from Jagex are implemented into the game. It is pretty obvious that one day runescape will died sometime in the near future. My question is what is going to be your alternative to this game to pass the time away if you have any free time that is and how would you feel about not beening able to play runescape ever again? Also most importantly how would the consentus staff handle this  issue?

Well, seeing how it is October, new releases of games and the new consoles are going to be the next big thing in terms of taking up free time. Also, no RS lets a lot of people be able to focus on their schoolwork, rather than just RSing 24/7.

There comes a point when every game is just considered boring or whatever somewhere down the road, its unavoidable.

For me, the alternatives to Runescape, (at least EOC), are maybe Old-School (which is what i'm looking to get back into), hockey, and console games such as GTA and others.

Hopefully everyone finds what makes them happy when/if Runescape goes down.

It is pretty obvious that one day runescape will be dead sometime in the near future.
I respect your opinion, but I don't think that this is happening any time soon, many people are just beginning to find out about Runescape and say that it's a very interesting game. As for people who are already playing Runescape, they can adapt to any changes in the game

Do you know how much did Jagex make in the year 2012? It's not something small or whatever anyone thinks, Jagex does not apply any change or update before they've studied it carefully, what would happen due to that update and take a look at the future through this update

If you didn't like a game, it's completely natural to see that this game is collapsing, and notice that many people dislike it... You're not looking on the bright side where this game is actually growing bigger

As for me, I actually have many other things to do which are away from Runescape: other computer games - sports - music - designing - hanging out with my friends my personal favourite

Also most importantly how would the consentus staff handle this  issue?
Any friendship is temporary, and will soon fade when that thing that holds these friends together is gone
But families, they last forever.

Well I've lost quite a bit of interest in the game lately, and only really log in to do spins, or chat to friends for a couple of minutes. I don't think Runescape will end just yet, I reckon it'll have at least another 7 or 8 good years, maybe even more left. Even then I don't think they'd shut down servers completely.

I'm kind of glad I'm bored of Runescape, because that gives me a lot more time to concentrate on my studies, which I was hoping to do this year anyway.

Rs is not gonna die because you don't like it anymore. It still got years to go.

When I quit I will probs find something else to get into. No lol or wow or all those shit games.

It just simply won't die out, it's everyones guilty pleasure spending 24/7 on rs, when it gets boring just take a break play some other games (gta, battlefield, cod, Gary's mod something's like them.. ) and then give it like a week, a month or a few months and you'll always end up back at runescape, it's been my stable horse now for like 7 years ya just can't shake it off no matter how many other big name games I play.

It just won't die, it makes money too.

This. As long as Jagex make profit, the game will stay.

MC is a fascinating game, you can be creative in your own little block world where you can build a ton of stuff, but that gets boring after a while. Runescape just has that thing to it that seems to drag everyone back eventually, either it's the friendship, or it's the fun of training a wide range of skills that you will have a hard time finding in other MMORPGs. I watched my friend play WoW back in the day, how he hunted animals and "skinned" them to get levels, where the max level was like 300 and it took a couple hours to obtain. Nowhere near as fun where you got to work for possibly weeks or months to get a goal done. I've always loved playing RS for it's unique style of gameplay, I'll admit they started copying other games to stay in business but it makes the game more interesting, plus honestly who here can say they would be 99 mage/def or other cb stats without eoc, it made every combat stat way easier and more fun to do, because back in pre-eoc it was a massive grind most people didn't seem to enjoy, and it was a very boring way of playing, you had an inv full of prayer pots, good prayer bonus gear, slapped on protect from melee, and you'd be good to go for a solid hour+ of training, all oyu had to do was pay attention to your prayer. I didn't like this at all really.

Also the friendship you make on rs is just amazing, I have so many good friends I keep in touch with on skype and facebook that I would never even know existed without rs.

Also, to the people that quit and think rs is lame, you probably quit before eoc, and haven't given the last years updates one chance, but judged it before hand, so I suggest you try to log in with an open mind, instead of thinking "ah this game is so shit now" without ever trying it. But oh well, can't make everyone change their mind, just wish people spent less time complaining about the game as it only spreads negative feelings around, if you got a bad opinion about stuff it's better off stuck inside your head, tbh

I don't think it'll 'Die'. Loyal players will continue to play and like others said, as long as money is made and updates keep coming out, there will at least be something for the players to play.

HOWEVER, if it were to completely shut down, I'd probably do what I already do and start playing FFXIV more often as well as league.
I personally am having a hard time playing rs just because of what happened to my account and everything. Surely I could of just maxed again on that account but I don't know, I didn't like the idea of it.

Everything now on new Effigy seems to just drag a long and honestly I'm not having much fun.
However of course, that's my opinion and I know for sure some people are still enjoying the game. Even if they're noobs like Ben.

and more bad ideas from Jagex are implemented into the game. It is pretty obvious that one day runescape will died sometime in the near future.

This statement made me kinda lol. Honestly I haven't ever felt like they made a BAD update. I could of cared less for the change of combat. Personally I thought it was much more intuitive.
I think the only thing I'm upset about is the push they make sometimes for Solomons / Sof. However I know some games are MUCH worse (I.E Maplestory, which turned to basically a Pay to Win game on top of buying apparel items was addicting).

Completely agree with you and Leo that statement was really stupid of you. You haven't been around the game for ages, and calling the things bad updates because you don't find them appealing is really dumb seeing as others may find them good.
Also I don't see how you dislike it, didn't eoc make F2p combat way easier, aka less of a pain in the ass to train, aka less hazzle for you and your f2p buds, aka less time wasted "playing this dying game".

I've always been a very avid CoD player, more than likely when ghosts comes out I will be hammering it over RS. I've got GTA, could get extra shifts at work. Spend even more time with friends/the girlfriend. There is a ton of things to do.

I'll add this at the end. For although CTS is a clan based around runescape, I don't think everyone in here will just disband if RS died, we're all friends first now.
