would friends be able to take part in clan events?

No because they aren't a part of the clan.
well your second half participates in them how would that work then?

She only goes to real life events.

I also think they should have the same rights as a regular member (but no access to boards such as pro & noob, clan information etc. like Joel suggested as friends won't be missing out on these being hidden to them) but the rank would be a nice way to distinguish between "friends of the clan" and actual members without the friends feeling left out.

Fair point. I assumed you were talking about the events i.e skill wars and such, real life events I always have thought were a lot more open, there are no rules or classed as cheating or anything like there would be in skill wars with clans and such.. If you get me?

I think they should have the same rights as a regular Member.

so therefore what is the point of a friends rank

On KOA (Knights of Aether), FA (Fallen Angels), and EK (Elysian Knights), I am ranked as a friend of the clan. This rank has the same abilities as any non admin clan member for all 3 clans. The only reason they have it is to separate those who are unable to join their clans due to being in or running another clan chat. It helps denote that yes we(myself and other ally owners(for Koa)) own a clan and are willing to partake in events with Koa.

As for your clan forums, I can understand your push to have everyone be ranked. You want a bigger slice of the "rs player base" pie in your clan. I will be unable to join CTS as my loyalties have always and will always be with my personal clan. I have been with them since I started RS and owe them for the majority of my motivation to continue playing the game.

On this note, if it becomes required to have a ranked account in the clan chat ill do my citadel weekly as I do with all my normal accts and move on as I do with them. Your forums are simply evolving to match the decreasing player base, it's perfectly understandable.

Hopefully this clears up my stand on this. (I saw your post earlier Joel on this topic)

Over the past 8 months there has been a massive push for people to become ranked within the cc chat itself. More participation in game as a clan to match that on forums. This makes your "clan rank" of sorts look "better". As this push happens you wish for more members to add to your plethra of members. For some clans this is important in success, some examples including CTS, Mining Golds, True Maxed, Maxed clan etc.  Without rankings these clans are just clans. Each clan has values they're founded on, yours a family based location for players to gather together and skill with eachother and motivate eachother to succeed, if I am not mistaken that is.

We've seen these changes happening gradually and now it's at the threshold of a fully different rank for non ranked members.  That is what I meant. If I missed anything please tell me, as my mind is currently enveloped in econometrics and heteroskedasticity.

My entire reasoning for being on the forums is to help the clan when i can, and at the same time enjoy the forums as it is. What i am called isn't important to me but if i have to meet certain requirements to do so, then i have to meet them. As an extention of this though, if i do not benefit in anyway from being on the forums or attempting to help you (in the past this was through skillwars as they added a thrill to skilling), then what is the point of them at all.

I read it as Nathan saying that he would be more than happy as a Clan Friend, his problem, if you want to call it that - as he has gone particularly out of his way to show an understanding of the situation beyond what has been posted about this previously - is that he disagrees with the limitations that the 'Friend' rank would bring compared to the limitations of what there is now, there are others like Nathan in Consentus who aren't in the clan chat for whatever reason.

And I wouldn't be surprised if something like this would push those players completely out of Consentus, they joined as members so why restrict them so much?

I also don't agree with the limitations of non-clan chat members not being allowed to participate in Clan Events, most events eventually end due to there not being enough participation from the Clan, so to help that you're preventing some willing participants from taking part just because they aren't a member of the clan chat? Even though they've gone out of their way to be a member on the forums, some for a long time, like Nathan and Ashy have.

It just seems to remove the point of those who aren't in the Clan Chat from even being a member on the forums, when they are unable to do so much, - even less if this becomes an actual rank and is implemented.

I don't understand why there is two parts to this clan? We have clan chat members and forum members.. I would say you're either a member of the clan or you aren't. If you're not, but willing to show activeness on the forums and stuff you're a friend of the clan.

As it is for a lot of events we have already implemented the rule that they must have a clan chat rank to participate. If we feel that others should be allowed to participate then it will be stated. I don't get how that is different from this rank being exempt from events? I initially thought that this rank would highlight people who aren't members of the clan and recognise them for their hard work and commitment to the clan.

Because there there are two parts to the clan, being the CC and the Forums, however someone who is not a member of the Clan Chat is still a member of the clan, despite the restrictions.

By giving them even less rights? :S

My problem is with the changing current members to this rank, I'm fine with changing a member of another Clan who is only a guest on these forums to it, as that would be an improvement.

Oh and unless I'm misunderstanding the entire thing.

I just like the idea of my girlfriend being able to browse the forums a bit more in depth than just as a guest. I really am not sure what this should include, all these suggestions and arguments for/against are making this so much more confusing for my opinion.

I get that being a full member takes work and we still need to keep this as something good to be achieved.

I was originally asking for friends to be able to have the same as members do. Feel like I'm arguing the point I'm trying to promote here.

I thought events were a way of advertisement. Surely not allowing people to come would be working against that?

From a new persons point of view who is interested in finding a clan but doesn't want to commit right away, wouldn't this be off putting?
