"Friend"
« on: December 01, 2013, 12:36:11 »
It has been suggested we have a "Friends" rank oin the forums

It has been discussed in a recent staff meeting but as this will affect the clan, we would like a few more ideas.

so far it has been discussed the "Friend" rank will be for clans that we have regular wars against, so they are not officially members of Consentus but have rights to the forums.

Also this rank would be available for people who no longer play RS but still want to be active on the forums.

People who are not ranked in the CC.

Thoughts on this rank?  and SENSIBLE suggestions.

Who would hold this rank and what boards would be visible? are a starting point

boards visible could be, g&a's, skill wars thread/competitions. They should not be allowed to see shoutbox but be able to see news thread at the top. Maybe the real life events boards if Tasha is able to get the "friends" rank.

Just suggestions

Would there be requirements to get the rank? Like being known and being on good terms with the clan? Or could people just apply straight away?

Good idea, A friend rank could be for those who do not yet meet the requirements for an actual rank but are still active within the cc and forums. However i think most of the forum should be exclusive to members as this will keep a tighter community.

For the friend rank, I believe they should be allowed to see things such as our Events section and Goals and Achievements (and races).

Anything that can show off how active we are as a clan is good for a friend rank to access.
I don't know where it would stand with real life boards, although some friends might be from real life events so it's hard to juggle inbetween both ingame and out of game.

When you mean 'friend' is it just people that we war against or will it be of those that may attend in real life events that don't play such as Tasha and Bianca, etc.

I personally think it's a wonderful idea but I'd also like to see what everyone thinks.

Reading this i feel saddened, that i could lose whatever ties I have with this clan forum wise, if i were to be put to just friends rank; no shoutbox for convos, g and a's etc...under one suggestion. Just feels like being pushed out and not part of anything here if so.
Being very objective in it will be more sensible to apply, but may not be as nice to be subjective in application.

If you are going to allow access to forums for persons as prior discussed like cam suggests - good terms with clan.
Could real life boards not be done by an ask for basis with grounds to ask for; eg people who do go to rl events n have etc?

Idk. But I'd hate to be pushed further out of this community.

My whole view for this idea was people we thought (at our discretion) had earned the title 'friend' of the clan. Originally I suggested 'friends' have same access as members on the forums, but without the requirements of the member rank. I was thinking for this rank, as an example, would be Tasha (my other half). She's been to real life events with me and will attend any I go to. She is wanting to be active on the forums but can't see the majority of them and with not actually playing Runescape, how will she meet the requirements to see everything? Same situation with Josh's girlfriend to.

I also suggested you, Ashy and Nathan as other possible candidates for the friends rank - you are active on our forums but won't actually join the clan chat to be classed as full members. You'd lose no benefits but not be classed as our member, more our friend.

As with other clan leaders it would be beneficial for them to have access to our forums and instead of applying to be a member they could be set as a 'friend' and removed afterwards.

As I mentioned before I suggested the rank be at staff discretion. That doesn't mean I can add who I like, it would have to be discussed and mutually agreed that person x can have the rank.

As for parts of the forum that wouldn't need to be shown:
  • The whole of Clan Information
  • Volunteering
  • Clan Discussion
  • Pro and Noob
  • All Awards

I think they should have the same rights as a regular Member.

Well Tasha wanted to use the forums but she's not allowed to be a member and can't so she'll have to miss out so.. That? Lol.

would friends be able to take part in clan events?

No because they aren't a part of the clan.
